I'm feeling the need to write. Okay, let's start with Kenai.
Should I stop there? I've got a ton to say about him, but I know you don't care to read any of this. I'm writing more for my sanity and trying to figure this day out than anything. HE's been breaking free for the past week. He broke the chain at the collar. Showed up on the neighbor's doorstep at, what time was it...six or seven in the morning. Barking. I've lost track of how many times he's ended up on their doorstep now--even with his chain dangling from his collor. (And yes, we've gone through multiple varieties of chains).
They have a girl dog. Hmmm...puppies? Neutering was in the works, but now he's going away tomorrow. Virignia Beach. That should be far enough that he won't make it back home, end up on the neighbor's doorstep. I'll miss him.
Barking. Then again, maybe I won't miss him too much.
He's a cutie.
Cai. Cai, oh boy oh boy. He figured out how to break free from his crib.
Three times today.
Pounding on the door, "Jelene! Jelene!"
Yes, he's resorted to calling me by my first name when he's frustrated.
Pounding.
I climbed into his crib after the third time of returning him to his rightful, cozy napping spot and find myself peeking out of one eye...wondering..."How does he escape?"
He does a pull-up, kicks on foot up on the bar and then catapults himself into his crib.
I've got an Olympic gymnist for a son.Tapping on my head, "Jelene! Jelene! Eyes! Eyes!" His little fingers are poking into my tightly closed eyelids.
Driving home from a Church meeting. The kid unbuckles his car seat. I'm driving on the highway, reviewing my craziness with Kenai breaking loose...
I see out of the corner of my eye, a flash of red.
I think, "Cai's wearing red shorts." I give a quick turn to see what it was. I do a double take right as Cai's about to pull the handle on the car door. My heart is in my throat. I'm not sure if I looked out the rear-view or how I got off that busy highway, moving along at 60mph, but everything happened so quickly and gratefully, so safely.
Maybe your car has one of those start your engine and doors automatically lock features.
That's nice.
I learned my lesson.
What's up with this?
Cai had half his buckle off as I pulled in tonight.
Kenai's back on his good chain. For the night. Que le vaya bien Kenai.

Can you child lock the doors of your car? Usually it's a physical switch on the door itself (the part that fits into the car). I am so GLAD that you were able to pull off safely and keep Cai safe! So scary!
Sounds like Cai is ready for a big boy bed. We put a child lock on the handle on the inside of Kaden's bedroom door so that he couldn't get out of his room. That was just to help him get used to the idea of staying in his room at bedtime. Now he doesn't need it anymore.
Oh Jewels- I'm glad everyone is safe. That has to be Mom's worst nightmare. I know how annoying dogs can be and now I'll be more ready when Ellie gets older. Miss you.
Oh my goodness! That boy is smart:) I have been dreading the day that Luci will do the same thing. What do you do?? I guess it's time for a toddler bed? Ah, I'm so glad you're safe and can't wait to see you!
OH MY!! I had know idea you were having such a hard time with Kenai! I'm so sorry! I bet Jarad is pretty sad about giving him up!
I'm so glad that Cai is okay! That is so scary and you were definately being blessed! So what are you going to do? I mean about Cai unbuckling himself. And climbing out of the bed, hhmmmm I think you should just put a matress on the floor until you can find a big boy bed, it's a hard transition but you'll have to do it sometime, right? I can't wait to see your perm!! I can't believe you did it all by yourself!!! You're amazing!
I laughed and cried while reading this! You are an AMAZING writer...I think you have found your calling. Isn't life crazy at times??
Oh my goodness! Those are some crazy stories! Of course we all knew Cai would be smart, but maybe he's a little too smart too soon!Kelly and Kyle and getting creative trying to keep Brent and Benson in their room these days. They use their nightlight to unlock their door the other day. Kids are so funny!
Isn't being a Mom crazy! No onw even knows half of the craziness that goes on :D
Love it!
That is crazy! Sorry, I am finally catching up on reading your blog tonight. This happened so long ago I am grateful everyone is safe. Matthew has been on the floor for three months now and being consistent was the key to help him get to sleep quickly and stay in bed.
